The number of diagnosed prevalent cases of type 2 diabetes will increase across all seven major markets from approximately 39.4 million in 2010 to 52.5 million in 2020.
In 2010, Datamonitor estimates that there were approximately 16 million people in the US diagnosed with diabetes. In Japan, there were approximately 7.8 million prevalent diabetes cases.
In the five major EU markets (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK), there were about 15.6 million people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2010.
